Classes
Pottery and handbuilding classes in Mapleton, Utah available to all skill levels—beginner to advanced, ages 14+. Our classes are for anyone who wants to learn or develop throwing on the wheel, handbuilding techniques, and basic cone 10 glazing.
Classes are 2 hours with 1 hour of lab time one day per week for six weeks and include access to studio glazes and 1.5 cubic feet of firing space (approximately 30 12-ounce mugs or 15 cereal bowls). Clay must be purchased from our stockroom. The class fee is $495 plus tax and no other fees are applied unless you exceed the allotted 1.5 cubic feet of firing space. We will only fire work that is made in our studio from clay purchased from our stockroom. This is to ensure pieces are fired to the proper cone and the kilns don't get ruined.
All of our firings are cone ten reduction. This means all fired work is food and dishwasher safe because the clay and glaze are vitrified and bacteria cannot grow as there are no longer pores in the clay.
Each class is six weeks, but we recommend considering more than one class if this is your first experience with clay, as six weeks is generally not enough time to become proficient.
Classes are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00. The first two hours are for instruction and one-on-one help and the last hour is open lab time without the instructor.
